ABOUT THE CITIZEN WARRIOR COALITION
Mission
To promote the partnership between the Reserve Components (Reserve and National Guard), those who serve – our “Citizen – Warriors” and the private sector.
In 2018, the Department of Defense published a new National Defense Strategy calling for a pivot towards great-power competition and to invest in the talent to do so. Such a pivot will involve maximizing the use of the operational ready reserve plus the buildout of a true strategic reserve capability — one that can attract and then use the kind of citizen talent that is needed for a long-term competition with China.
American industry must have a voice in our national security strategy, specifically in the role of the reserves, who are their valued employees.
American industry must buy in.
Until now, industry support has essentially been assumed by the Pentagon, the Congress, and one president a\er another. We can no longer make that assumption; we must earn the support of those who make possible the service of our Reserve and Guard. ROA is excited at the historic opportunity to serve the nation by facilitating a conversation among these stakeholders that would lead to greater understanding of the realities underlying un-sustainable use of America’s Reserve Components.
We must get this right; and in return, the men and women in our Reserve and Guard will hold up their end of the bargain. Program Structure Organized by industry national security sectors: Each sector will establish a “sector committee” to gather the issues, challenges and proposed solutions in the employment of Reserve forces, which include the National Guard. Bring the right stakeholders and resources together to resolve or find compromise on these issues and challenges through quarterly forums and connect with Reserve Component Leadership.
ABOUT ROA
Since 1922, The Reserve Officers Association of the United States, now known as the Reserve Organization of America to reflect its all-ranks membership, has championed the cause of the Reserve Components at home and in war.
The evolution of that mission has helped protect the rights and benefits of individual members of the Reserve force and their families, while preserving a strong and capable Reserve force as a critical component to our national security. ROA continues to serve the Reserve and National Guard in an era where the need is greater than ever before.
For 100 years ROA has been the only organization solely dedicated to supporting the Reserve Components and their critical role in national defense. ROA is America’s only exclusive advocate for the Reserve and National Guard – all ranks, all services. With a sole focus on support of the Reserve and Guard, ROA promotes the interests of Reserve Component members, their families, and veterans of Reserve service; and conducts a legislative campaign that ensures the readiness of our Reserve force.
Together, ROA’s members sound off in one voice for one mission.
Reserve duty has changed, with increasing operational missions. So has the “new” Reserve Organization of America. ROA provides the tools, resources, support, education, and advocacy Reservists and their families need to succeed, in and out of uniform. We call this—Reserve Strength. Reserve Life.
